DON’T KILL ME

DON’T KILL ME

Kill me not, Pa
poison me not, Ma
strangle me not, brother
I am one of your own
let some mercy be shown
your blood runs into my veins
let you not bind me in chains
give my wishes some space
let me live also with honor and grace.

Desires have wings
so have mine
what if I love someone ?
how is that a crime ?
made my choice
want you to hear my voice
my heart beats for him
why have I to pay the price?

Heart overrules the mind
society  has never been kind
different caste, religion and state
have to write my own fate.
Why torture me?
Why shatter my dreams?
Why you shame and fail your own?
You are not urbane, to me it seems.

You blood thirsty savages
you traditional sticklers
oh you ! Perpetrators of heinous crime
your preaching and actions do not rhyme.
Shame on you Goddess worshipers
girls may refuse to take birth
eve was created by HIM for love
HE now also thinks, was it at all worth.

Kill me not, Pa/ poison me not Ma
strangle me not brother ?

In the name of "honour" killings etc. take place. This Poem depicts
the true sense of it. Whither are we going ? Backwards to Barbarian
periods. Is the Culture diminished or became naught. Every living being
has equal right to live till the day chosen by God to leave this abode.
TK has rightly projected present day apathy in a very simple, lucid style. Hats off to him.

    My dear TK,
Wow...What a wonderful, realistic and lovely poem on love.
Born and brought up in a village i too used to hate lovers but changed after reaching college in City.
DG who was against love marriage when our elder son got married changed now and openly tell our youngest son to love a girl of his choice!!!.
It's a question of time that villagers and all will accept love marriages.
That will eradicate caste and religion.

It is not only the men but sometimes womenfolk also join in this partisan behavior.

It is sad that in a land of Goddess worshipers, girls are discriminated. A very touching poem. This poem reminded me of the following poem

    O Ri Chiraiya

    O Ri Chiraiya
    Nanhi si chidiya
    Angnaa mein phir aaja re

    O Ri Chiraiya
    Nanhi si chidiya
    Angnaa mein phir aaja re

Andhiyara hai ghana aur lahu se sana
Kirno ke tinke ambar se chunn ke
    Angna mein phir aaja re
Humne tujhpe hazaro sitam hain kiye
Humne tujhpe jahaan bhar ke zulm kiye
    Humne socha nahi
    Tu jo ud jaayegi
Ye zameen tere bin sooni reh jaayegi
Kiske dum pe sajega angna mera

    O Ri Chiraiya, meri Chiraiya
    Angnaa mein phir aaja re
Tere pankho mein saare sitare jadu
    Teri chunar satrangi bunu
Tere kaajal mein main kaali raina bharu
Teri mehandi mein main kacchi dhoop malu
Tere naino sajaa doon naya sapna

    O Ri Chiraiya, meri Chiraiya
    Angnaa mein phir aaja re

    O Ri Chiraiya
    Nanhi si chidiya
    Angnaa mein phir aaja re
    O Ri Chiraiya...

Dear TK, I am sorry i read this poem quiet late was a bit busy on some urgent assignment...
its true in the name of honour killing or otherwise innocent girls are being slaughtered, I often feel outrageous, who has given the killers this right to take the life of another human????
Very touching poem TK, till such time the very thinking of our Indian society changes, such killing will continue to be there, not only villages I have seen parents just not accepting the freedom of their girl child, a girl child goes to educational institution, earns and brings prosperity to her family but the moment she declares her love for someone she is being attacked as if she has done some heinous crime, as if she has no right to lead her own life, to decide her future, our society is a hypocrite society, we wear modern clothes, we show we are modern, we talk big but deep within our heart the thinking still remains barbarian, the ancient one. The change has to come in our generation to accept, to try to forget and forgive as DG rightly did, as regards the future generation the change is already visible.

A civilized nation should not turn a deaf ear to the apathy of girl children and their horrondous life. Citizens should have culture first ; nation feeling together with humanitarian approach. Otherwise we are not fit
    to be called humans.
