Silence
Silence
---------
Silence is golden
hush being the buzzword
noise gets frozen.
Silence is deafening
martyr’s pyre ,
waiting to lit
last post sounding;
goodbye
Silence is absolute
cat out of the bag
a minister’s heart
sag.
Silence is corrupt
abetted by the hammer
justice denied to an innocent.
Silence is routine
scams after scams
yet none looses sheen.
Silence is love
lips move not
yet they talk.
Silence is pain
at a candle march
for an act insane.

Wedding Anniversary
Wedding Anniversary
------------------------------
Sleep had been
eluding him whole night. He could not fathom the reason but a little chill and
cosy warmth of room proved a lullaby for him when he found himself being
kissed. Dream ? Wow ! After such a long time.
He would have preferred to be in that stupor expecting something more revealing when his
eyes betrayed him making him see his better-half standing near his bed and
looking like a full bloomed lotus having dew drops on its petals.” Happy anniversary “. She fluted.
What ! He got up from
the bed as if thousand scorpions had stung him. “Shit! How could I forget this
day which changed my whole life.” A husband is not supposed to forget either
the birthday or the wedding anniversary of his wife. This is supposed to be a
cardinal sin in addition to other sins as scripted in the religious scriptures.
These are the two events in one’s life which shape the future one year’s
destiny of a married person. The day she takes birth, husband is tagged even if
she is not visible on one’s timeline and by the time one allows it on your
timeline, one has already fallen hook, line and sinker.
“So what is the
programme, dear ?” He sheepishly asked as he felt his wallet getting lighter.
“Nothing much. Just give
me company for the whole day.” She said
mischievously. She was acting coy, clever and also with conviction.
“I usually remain
here, with you, for the whole day” He gathered his courage to browbeat the
tigress with a straw.
“No, you simply keep
yourself busy with your mistresses. You don’t have the time for me.” She jerked
her body like a wave in the sea which comes back without touching the shore.
“No, no ,no. Wait. Please wait. What are you talking
about?” He thought that he was getting choked but she pretended to be deaf. His
daughter-in-law, standing nearby, seemed to be enjoying the play act of her mother –in- law, yet taking pity on him
she advised him to take his wife for the day out. He felt like a culprit. He shaved clean except the french one, took
bath with polo, a body wash which he used
first time, dressed smartly and presented himself to Her Highness with all the fineness in the
world. This time she seemed to be impressed.
“Lets lunch out today and see a movie” He said to
appease her but his tone was as if was experiencing pinpricks.
“ Is this a
recommendation or threat” she retorted. She was definitely enjoying his
annoyance. He just did not know what to say. Attributing motives causes rage
within leading to outburst though the things remain the same at the end. He has
always experienced this phenomena during his life till date. He thought not to react but to keep mum.
“OK. We will go. The
whole family will go.” She was still playing with him.
“But this is our
wedding anniversary”. He was somewhat taken aback.
“Sorry. The day I
tied the knot, I started weaving a tapestry of my own, getting pin-pricks time
and again in between so that it looks beautiful and fits our requirements. I
won’t leave that tapestry. It will always be with me and in my heart and that
includes you too, my dear husband. You are the border of my tapestry” This poetic
thought of hers stunned him for a moment.
He carried her wishes. Whole day was spent outdoors. One thing which
kept nagging him whole day was her remarks about ‘ mistresses.’
At night he asked her
about it appearing somewhat puzzled himself
“Buddu/ you dim
witted (only wives can utter such lovable words) I was talking about your muses
and your laptop”
He heaved a sigh of
relief.

My Poem translated into french
Dear friends. Feeling elated. My another poem WAYS OF LOVE AND PEACE has
been translated into French by none other than Athanase Vantchev de Thracy one

Dear sir,
I translated your beautiful poem into
French :
Ways of Love and Peace
--------------------------------
Descending
darkness breathing down the living
Shadows of silence becoming monstrous
None dares to challenge rogue elements
Breeze of love seeks passage through
everyone’s heart
Wading through the waves of emotions and
actions
An aura of tranquility and serenity lift up
spirits
Bringing much need solace and comfort
Trying
to cement the path glimmering with sunrays
Leading to ultimate calmness and happiness
Wonderful are the ways of love and peace
---------------------------------------------------------

Not the way to reach heaven, beastly beings
No wonder, seeing corpse after corpse
Shamed too is Shaitan, his name they are

मेरी गौरैया
मेरी गौरैया
--------------

A quote from Ms. Arundhati Roy
Ms.
Arundhati Roy says. Quote “ If we do not have the right to speak freely, we
will turn into a society that suffers from intellectual malnutrition. A nation
of fools” Unquote.
------------------------------------
@ Ms.Arundhati
Roy. “If we bestow upon us free right to speak and act freely, the society will
turn into intellectual buffoons thereby insulting the nation and its people. By
returning awards bestowed by the nation is insult to its people in general and
the Govt. (the representative body of the people) in particular. Are’nt there
other means of protest to show one’s dissent or the creative minds have become
simply bankrupt.

कौलIntolerance and awards
Intolerance and awards
--------------------------------
The other day Jaitish came to me sulking and said, “Nanu I am
returning the best student award to the school authorities’ I was
naturally
taken aback.
“But why, Jaitish ?”, I asked
“ Sandeep slapped
Rajesh and teacher did not punish
Sandeep”
Jaitish said.
“ Wait a minute. Who is Sandeep and Who is Rajesh?” I sought
an
answer as I had never heard their names before.
“They are students of my school but are not my classmates”
“They are not your classmates yet you are so perturbed that
you
have decided to return the award”
“ I am concerned, Nanu. Why should I tolerate such behavior
on
the part of Sandeep ? We must protests. Nahi” He seems to be
genuinely
worried and sought a positive reply from me.
“ Is returning of award, the only choice left with you”, I
asked him
inquisitively.
“Yes, this way I will bring this incident to the notice of
the
Principal and the Management”
“ But their must be more severe incidents before too. This is
just a
matter of slapping”
“Yes there were numerous incidents of head knocking, bouts,
hand
to hand fights etc. earlier too…”
I immediately interrupted him.
“ Did anyone return the award then ? I asked.
“ No, not to my knowledge. Not at all,” he saw me
suspiciously.
“ Why are you doing this now ?”
“ Because I want that the violence should have no place in
the
school and watching me return the award, other awardees will
follow suit”
“You mean they don’t have the mind of their own and simply
will
follow you.” I said watching his reaction which was bordering
confusion
and frustration.
“ No, I just want to return the award. Ghandhi Ji told that
violence
has no place anywhere” He was insistent.
“ As you said that your school had witnessed more severe
violence
earlier too, your school must have been tolerant enough to tolerate
such incidents of intolerance.” I played with his curiosity.
“Don’t sidetrack the issue, Nanu. I am returning the award. That’s
it.”
“Who gave you this award” I did not let me overpower me with
his
insistence.
“ The school”. He said waiting for another question
“ What does school mean to you ?”
“What do you mean, Nanu. School is everything to me.”
“What does your school consists of”
“ Students, teachers, Principal, all”
“It means the award received by you is not given to you by
either a
Principal or a teacher or a student. It is given by the SCHOOL.
Am I right?”
“Yes.” He became curious.
“ Have you read the preamble of the our constitution:- WE THE
PEOPLE…..”
“Yes, I have read that people are supreme in a republic and
that a
Government is by the people, for the people and of the people”.
Jaitish
was quite excited now.
“ In other words, the SCHOOL has unanimously or by majority
appreciated your talent. The award was
bestowed on you because
in their intellect, you were the best in your own
field. Returning
the award means that you will insult those very people who
bestowed
the award on you, who allowed you to reach upto this
pedestal. You are
insulting the judgment of students, teachers and
the Principal etc”
“But Nanu, so many writers, filmmakers, artists are returning
the
awards now a days”
“ My dear Jaitish, they are not only insulting the
Constitution of
India but also the people of India who have all along recognized
their talents and
works. All these attained glory and fame because
of the people of India. They
received awards at various levels
including national level because the whole
nation wanted it. They
are infact insulting their own nation, the MOTHER INDIA.
In the
similar way, you will insult the SCHOOL, that very school which
teaches
you basics of life to begin your life.”
“What should I do now, Nanu.
I can not tolerate this injustice to
Rajesh”, Jaitish became subdued
while seeking my advice.
“Well, there are other form of protests which you have to
explore
without hurting the ethos of your school.
Jaitish had something to ponder about.

Tales of EON (part 1): a micro review
Tales of EON (part 1): a micro review
---------------------------------------------------
It was a great pleasure to read Neelam Chandra Sexena’s
poetic treatise ‘Tales of EON (part 1)’ based on different but important
characters of the epic Mahabharata.
The authoress has carved out each character in simple
quatrains to catch the imagination of all readers particularly the young
generation. Each poem, be it Dushyanta’s Regret, Shantanu’s Distress, For the
Sake of Race, Pandu’s Sons, Guru’s Curse, Karna’s Pledge etc presents an
intriguing insight into the minds of protagonists.
As an accomplished authoress, Neelam Sexena Chandra has
spread before us, through versifications, a buffet of happenings in one’s life
viz guilt, happiness, love, longing, expectations, rejections and relationships
bringing alive the character she is writing about. If I interpret her poems
through the lenses of a present day readers, we all go through these emotions
including undergoing frustrations and are subject to various inequalities in
our present day societies. The book clearly shows the ability of the authoress
to dig deep into her subject and sail through with ease and elegance presenting
a poetic colourful rainbow arc to the readers.
The sketches with each poem does add value to the poems.
Satisfaction is the word which the readers would derive
after going through this excellent poetic work ‘Tales of EON’ She has rightly
dedicated this book to all those who find mythology intriguing.
