Rebirth of Phoenix

Refugees are now every where. Some are forced to leave their homes and some become refugees in own country. Here is my poem selected for publication in an international anthology ' Colours of Refuge' brought out by Poets, Artists Unplugged group. The book contains besides artworks & photography, poems, short-stories, nano-fictions both in hindi and english.

Rebirth of Phoenix
-------------------------------

Seeds, buried through devil’s cleansing,
scattered with violent compulsion,
swirling wind swallowing whole,
sprouting to regain the freshness.

Lotus does thrive in marshes,
blooming with pride even when plucked,
everything is lost yet not lost,
courage, ethos, culture, knowledge
enough to salvage
hope and future.

In states, countries, on our planet
let humanity burn like candles,
groaning under the weight of hanging albatross
human spirit always prevails,
glowing through endurance personified
dare call us refugees.
phoenix is rising from the ashes once again.

Kanchan Bhattacharya Though this is a poem of hope, the tragedy is many fold. On one side a nation watches its own populace becoming victim to political expediency, on the other hand, a malicious breed spills over from its home and invades through asylum, grows and rebels against the very nation that shelters them. It is a shame. The KP's loss of homeland is a vendetta.
