Stone and Pain

On 15th January,2014 at 0630hrs in Delhi I had an acute and excruciating pain radiating from back to abdomen. Doctors diagnosed it a stone in kidney. My son brought me to Thane ( a suburb of Mumbai on 18th Jan 14)  This poem originated as some friends at www.verdurez.com desired that I should write a poem on Stone and Pain. So the poem was written on 21 Jan 2014

Stone and Pain
-------------------
A dam allowed not to be built
Till opposition decided to be so
Thinking it will stop the flow
Agitated protesters gathered in mass
But invain
Daily routine went to toss
Rolling stones, I was told
Gathers no moss
But gathered it, for sure
There seemed no immediate cure.

A 6 mm stone threw the life, out of gear
Piggy back was pain
Turning the sane Govt., insane.
Mob swelled applying pressure
Threatening barricades ,blocking the lane
Testing the endurance with excruciating pain
Govt. gave up, signalling a truce
Allowing opposition to play their malicious game
Supporting its agenda yet with disdain
Waves after waves, it waxed and waned
Hitting the shore
Back and forth, time and again
Absent were nausea, fever and vomiting
That was some silver lining.

A foreign hand intervened
Dictated a policy expertly framed
Road map was drawn for prosperity
Of an aging but agile entity.

You dear stone and dear pain
Owe, it to you as I
Came to know
My body better than before
And its governance
Which you tore.

    My dear TK sir,
I am aghast how you could write such a gem amidst unbearable pain. It is not my cup of tea to digest such a rhythemic poetic flow which is so rich in content and feelings. frankly I am not even qualified to read your outstanding poetry let alone comment on it. Sir you are truly out standing and I deserve to stand out side simply clapping with bated breath to feel proud to have a gem of a poet amongst we Verudians. Hats off to you sir...

Fantastic poem on "stone and pain" by our dear TK only a great poet can write even while withering in pain stones are stones whether its external or internal the stone which TK got was healed and cured and may not come back again but what about the stones which people throw at you? it takes a life time to survive.

The context of the poem is telling all bhajaan, Get well soon!
The poem is special for its analogy of the dam, and if we set aside the context and see the surface level it appears as a shaped up poem for some true facts too, (i mean what you symbolically said about Dam and the other related issues) and well-connected to the physical state, not only your own but whoever suffers from such condition...it has a meaning and meaningfulness! many thanks for your assessment of the Fall! regards...!

So poets can write poetry on any topic!!! Every topic can be a subject of the poem. Great! I enjoyed it.

As Shahzia has stated, I too thought it was about the protest of some environmentalists on the issue of building a dam, until I read the poet's notes! I understand that a bigger kidney stone can give excruciating pain! Thank God, expert hands removed the 'rock' and also the pain! Interesting! !
Wish you a speedy recovery! !
